I grew up in the rather chilly and amazingly scenic community of Haliburton, Ontario. I was taught at a very early age by my parents that if I wanted to be a James, it was my duty to create and not follow trends. My parents led by example;  my father a Master Carpenter and my mother a Leathersmith.  They instilled the virtues of dedication and respect for my craft, which I carry with me to this day. Art was always encouraged in our family but I never dreamed it could be a career until my late teens when tattooing took hold of me.  As a kid, I always found myself taking things apart and putting them back together (much to my mother’s chagrin). When I first got the chance to hold a tattoo machine belonging to a friend’s dad, who tattooed in the 70’s and 80’s, I fell in love. By this time, I had spent the better part of my adolescence getting tattooed, meeting artists along the way, and soaking up as much information about the trade as I could. So I set out on my journey to become a tattooer and after a few mixed experiences, settled in Oshawa, at Wild Ink, completing my apprenticeship. Now three years later, I can say I have met great people while working with the Wild crew, and learned so much from the guys I started with and some I continue to work with. Perhaps most valuable to me is the extensive knowledge I have acquired in regards to the application of tattoos; the science and workings of the tattoo machine. I could not begin to imagine my life without the rewarding career that chose me. Rest assured, I pour my heart and soul into what I do. Each day, my aim is to make the choice to get a tattoo a positive and lasting experience for my clients. I enjoy Japanese/Traditional/New School tattoos most but I always welcome new ideas and designs.
